CHAPTER 01 / 27
Welcome to MEMTREVE
The philosophy, editions, and the most useful first steps.
What MEMTREVE does
MEMTREVE gathers notes, photographs, video, audio, documents, links, and other saved material into a searchable collection. Instead of demanding that you remember a folder path, it helps you retrieve things through titles, words, visual details, and context.
The central idea is straightforward: keep the pieces, then find the connections. MEMTREVE is not a replacement for every specialist photo editor, accounting program, or file manager. It is a place to keep and rediscover the information that matters to you.
One Mac app, plus your iPhone
MEMTREVEMac · Core features stay freeKeep your memories, search, Secure Notes, and iPhone connection after your trial.
MEMTREVE ProfessionalMac · Fully unlocked 30-day trialTry Receipts and Field Reports before choosing the $9.95 one-time upgrade.
MEMTREVE Mobile ProiPhone · FreeCapture moments, field work, and receipts—and read memories or Secure Notes on the move.
There is one Mac download. Professional starts unlocked for 30 days after first launch; afterward, your core memory experience remains available.
A five-minute orientation
- Install and launch MEMTREVE on your Mac.
- Add a photograph, note, or document that you will recognize later.
- Open it and inspect its preview and details.
- Type one remembered word into Search.
- Explore connected or related content and return to the full collection.
- If you use iPhone, capture a test item in MEMTREVE Mobile Pro and let it sync.
The goal is to learn the loop: capture → remember → retrieve.

Install & launch on Mac
Download, first launch, macOS permissions, and updates.
Download from the official website
Use the MEMTREVE website for the Mac download. The currently published disk image uses the filename Memtreve.dmg. Avoid software mirrors and unrelated websites.
Install the application
- Open the downloaded
Memtreve.dmg. - Follow the disk image instructions and place MEMTREVE in Applications.
- Eject the mounted disk image.
- Open MEMTREVE from Applications.
macOS might show its normal downloaded-app confirmation on the first launch. Only approve software obtained from the official site.
What to expect on first launch
MEMTREVE opens with a 30-day trial of the complete Professional experience. There is no separate Professional installer or purchase needed to explore the advanced tools. A new collection may initially be empty. Add a small test item before importing a large archive.
When the trial ends, your existing memories, search, Secure Notes, and iPhone synchronization remain accessible. Receipts and Field Reports require a $9.95 Professional purchase to continue using those tools.
Update safely
When a newer MEMTREVE download is offered, quit the app before replacing the installed application. Preserve your stored collection, never delete app-support data as a routine update step, and keep a backup of important material. An application update is different from deleting its data.
For Professional, retain your purchase details in case you ever need to restore an entitlement.
macOS security & file permissions
MEMTREVE may need macOS permission to access content you explicitly select. macOS controls file, photo, and folder access. If an import fails, check the actual permission prompt and the relevant macOS System Settings before changing broad privacy permissions.

The Mac interface
A field guide to the collection, search, preview, and controls.
The main window
The main window brings together the MEMTREVE wordmark, a search field, collection controls, visible item cards, and preview/detail areas. Depending on window size and current selection, some controls or panels may appear differently.
Search field
Use the search field in the header to search across the collection. Clear a search to return to the broader view. Search can surface content from titles and from extracted material such as text in images where supported.
Item cards
Cards represent the things you saved. A card can show a thumbnail or file-type preview, title, dates, and other visible context. Select a card to investigate further. Different material types have different previews.
Preview and detail areas
MEMTREVE is designed to let you inspect many items without leaving the app. A selected item may show a larger preview, dates, source information, and related memories. For media such as video or audio, use available in-app playback controls.
Light and Dark appearance
The application provides visible Light and Dark appearance controls. Choose the presentation that suits your working environment. Appearance and available controls may vary with your MEMTREVE version and system settings.
Groups and collection controls
A Groups control is visible in the Professional header. Use it when you want to work with a subset or collection of material. MEMTREVE does not require you to build an elaborate hierarchy to get started.
Available contextual actions
Controls such as New Note, Edit Image, and Secure may appear depending on edition, selection, or availability. Disabled controls mean an action is not currently available; do not assume every control works with every item type.
↑ Back to contentsCHAPTER 04 / 27
Capture & import
Bring material in without dismantling your existing file organization.
Supported everyday material
MEMTREVE is built for notes, photos, screenshots, PDFs, documents, audio, video, links, and other useful items. Preview and text extraction support differ by format; successfully importing a file does not guarantee every internal detail is searchable.
Add files
- Identify a file or small group of files you want to keep.
- Use the import or drop interaction offered by your version of MEMTREVE.
- Wait for the item to appear in the collection.
- Open the imported item to verify that its preview and title are correct.
- Search for a distinctive word to confirm it can be retrieved.
Start with a manageable batch before importing a very large archive.
Create a note
Use the available New Note action when enabled. Record the important content in ordinary language. A specific title and one or two contextual sentences are often more useful than an elaborate tagging scheme.
Capture links and web material
Save the URL and enough context to recognize why you kept it. Links may point to content that later moves or disappears; if long-term access to specific material matters, preserve an appropriate local copy where you have the right to do so.
Originals and derived content
MEMTREVE’s guiding approach is to preserve the material you imported. When you modify an image or export a derivative, keep track of whether the action produces a new copy or changes a saved version. Always inspect the app’s confirmation before performing a destructive action.
Large imports and patience
Importing many large photos or video files can take time and consume storage. For a major migration, break the work into batches, verify several items from each batch, and keep an independent backup until you have confirmed your archive is complete.
↑ Back to contentsCHAPTER 05 / 27
Titles, dates & metadata
How MEMTREVE keeps useful context around each item.
Choose useful titles
Good titles are retrieval cues: “Warranty for kitchen mixer” is more recognizable than “IMG_1042”. Include the person, event, project, place, or purpose you are likely to remember.
Imported versus created dates
These dates answer different questions. Imported reflects when an item came into MEMTREVE. Created reflects an available original creation date or file metadata. A photo taken years ago might be imported today; that distinction helps reconstruct a timeline.
Dates depend on available metadata and may be missing or misleading after edits, exports, transfers, or screenshots.
Text extracted from images
When text recognition is available, words in screenshots and photographed notes can become search clues. Results depend on legibility, image resolution, handwriting, orientation, and language. Always open the original image when exact wording matters.
Notes, tags, and context
Adding a few words about why an item matters can be more valuable than an exhaustive catalog. Descriptive context makes future searches more forgiving.
↑ Back to contentsCHAPTER 06 / 27
Search & rediscovery
Search from remembered words, not remembered folder paths.
Search by a fragment
- Click Search.
- Enter a name, phrase, project, business, or visible word.
- Review the resulting item cards.
- Open a promising result.
- Look at its preview, metadata, and any related items.
Try wider and narrower terms
If “camping invoice September” finds nothing, try “invoice”, then “camping”, or a merchant name. Short, distinctive words are often useful when the original item has incomplete metadata.
Searchable images and screenshots
MEMTREVE can search recognized text in images where OCR is available. It does not mean every image is automatically understood semantically. Search can miss blurry handwriting, poorly lit receipts, or text too small to recognize.
Why search results vary
Some files have rich searchable text; others only have filenames and metadata. A video or photograph may be easy to recognize visually but have little searchable text. Give important items meaningful titles or notes to improve future retrieval.
When a search returns nothing
Clear filters, shorten the query, try a related name, check whether the item was imported successfully, and allow time for any background processing. Avoid reimporting duplicates until you confirm whether the item is already present.
↑ Back to contentsCHAPTER 07 / 27
Associations & connected memories
Moving from one remembered fragment to related content.
The related-memories idea
A single photo can lead to a note, another photo, a file, or a remembered project. MEMTREVE’s related-content experience is meant to help you follow those connections. The on-screen panel may be labeled “This reminds me of”.
Use the panel
Open a memory and inspect the related content displayed alongside it. Follow a related item to continue exploring. Suggestions are discovery aids, not proof that two items describe the same event or person.
What associations are not
Connections are not automatic folders, a guarantee of identity, or a substitute for your judgment. If a result looks coincidental, simply ignore it; if a relation matters, preserve useful context in the item itself.
↑ Back to contentsCHAPTER 08 / 27
Images & photographs
Preview, recognition, orientation, and careful edits.
Photo previews
Select a photograph to inspect a larger version. MEMTREVE supports image previews and preserves image context so photos can sit alongside notes, documents, and other material.
Orientation and quality
Digital images can contain orientation metadata. If a preview looks rotated or odd, compare it with the original file and consider its source and metadata before exporting another copy.
Edit Image
The Professional interface includes an Edit Image control. Its availability depends on the current selection. Inspect the displayed editing options before applying changes; maintain the original when you need an untouched historical copy.
Privacy in photographs
Photos may contain faces, locations, signs, addresses, and embedded metadata. Review sensitive images before sharing them outside your collection.
↑ Back to contentsCHAPTER 09 / 27
People & pets memories
Revisit photographs through the lives represented in them.
People and pets are distinct
MEMTREVE supports people- and pet-oriented memory experiences. They are distinct ways of exploring memories rather than requiring everyone and every animal to live in a single category.
Timeline perspective
Time can be as important as place. When original creation dates are present, photos can help reconstruct a person’s or pet’s history. Imported date and original capture date are not interchangeable.
Review identification
Automatic or assisted identification, when used, can make mistakes. Before accepting a suggested grouping, inspect the photographs. Do not treat similarity alone as confirmed identity.
Share carefully
Export only the memories you intend to share. Check whether visible dates, locations, people, or private background details belong in the shared version.
↑ Back to contentsCHAPTER 10 / 27
PDFs, documents & text
How mixed document types fit into one collection.
Document preview
PDFs and other documents can be kept beside photos and notes. Some formats support in-app preview, while others may depend on macOS or the originating application to open fully.
What can be searched
Documents with selectable text may be more searchable than image-only scans. A scanned page often needs OCR before words become searchable. If a result seems missing, check the source document itself.
Original versus extracted text
Extracted text is a search aid. It can miss characters, column order, signatures, or handwritten notes. Use the original as the reference for important financial, legal, or technical details.
↑ Back to contentsCHAPTER 11 / 27
Audio & video
Keep moving images and sound with the context around them.
In-app playback
MEMTREVE supports previewing and playing common audio and video material within the app. Use the visible player controls to play, pause, and navigate. Codec and file-format limitations may still apply.
Titles matter for media
An audio recording might contain a great memory but have an opaque filename. Add contextual information so you can retrieve the item later without remembering the file’s exact title.
Media and storage
Video can consume substantial space. Keep a backup of important source media, monitor available disk space, and test playback before removing any old archive.
↑ Back to contentsCHAPTER 12 / 27
Organizing without folders
Groups and light-touch structure.
Why MEMTREVE does not demand a hierarchy
People remember stories and connections better than directory paths. You can start capturing immediately and build structure only when it helps you.
Groups
The header includes a Groups control. Use groups for meaningful context, such as a project, journey, or subject, when your version offers the corresponding controls. Grouping is optional and complements search.
Avoid overclassification
If deciding where an item belongs takes longer than capturing it, simplify. One sensible title and a relevant note may be enough.
↑ Back to contentsCHAPTER 13 / 27
Everyday workflows
Realistic examples to make the product immediately useful.
Remember a trip
- Import several pictures from the trip.
- Add a note about the hotel, a restaurant, or who was there.
- Keep a useful PDF or booking document if appropriate.
- Later, search by place, event, or companion rather than by folder.
Track a project
- Add a sketch, screenshot, or reference document.
- Include a note about what problem you were solving.
- As the project evolves, add related items.
- Search a remembered phrase or concept to recover the original reasoning.
Keep a warranty
- Add the receipt or purchase document.
- Keep product photographs and serial-number information only if comfortable storing them.
- Use a title such as “Mixer warranty — kitchen”.
- Retrieve it by product name if service is needed later.
Remember a person or pet
Keep a few photos with meaningful dates and small notes. Later, the person, pet, location, or timeframe can be the beginning of your search.

MEMTREVE Mobile Pro
Five ways to capture, document, and revisit what matters from your iPhone.
Five choices on the iPhone home screen
MEMTREVE Mobile Pro presents five choices: Activity, Photos & Files, Receipts, Field Reports, and My MEMTREVE. The first four help capture information; My MEMTREVE helps you revisit memories and Secure Notes while away from your Mac.
It is a free companion app. The Mac Professional upgrade controls continued access to advanced Mac workflows after the trial.
Activity: keep the whole visit together
- Open Activity on iPhone.
- Give the activity a useful title.
- Add notes describing the visit, task, or event.
- Add photographs or other supporting material.
- Finish and send the activity when ready.
Instead of finding fragments scattered through your camera roll, you can return to one activity with context intact.
Photos & Files: capture several items at once
Choose photographs and documents available through the iPhone pickers. Select multiple items when helpful, review the selection, and send them to MEMTREVE. This is useful for a series of photographs, paperwork collected during a visit, or details you do not want to lose.
Receipts: save the proof on the spot
Open Receipts and capture the receipt while it is in front of you. Check that the merchant, date, amount, and any important details are legible. The Mac Professional Receipts workspace handles later review, classification, and export.
Field Reports: document the job on location
Open Field Reports to record work where it happens. Use a clear project or visit name, add supporting details and photographs, and send the field material to the Mac. Professional on Mac is where you select the relevant items and assemble a shareable PDF report.
See Chapter 27: Field Reports for a complete example.
My MEMTREVE: memories within reach
Open My MEMTREVE when you need information already kept in MEMTREVE. Read your synchronized memories and Secure Notes on iPhone while in the field. The information available depends on what has reached the device through iCloud; allow time for sync before relying on an item away from connectivity.
Capture status and staying connected
Captures can be saved locally before iCloud finishes transferring them. Watch the app’s status for Saved on iPhone · Waiting to sync or Successful Sync. Do not delete the only copy of an item before its transfer is complete.
↑ Back to contentsCHAPTER 15 / 27
iCloud sync & offline capture
What transfers through iCloud, what stays safely on your device, and what to do when sync takes time.
iPhone-to-Mac capture and Mac-to-iPhone access
MEMTREVE Mobile Pro can capture material on your iPhone for use on Mac. My MEMTREVE also gives your iPhone access to memories and Secure Notes from the Mac through the supported iCloud synchronization workflow.
Changes may not appear instantaneously; allow iCloud time to transfer material and verify the item on the receiving device.
Waiting to sync
When offline, you may see “Saved on iPhone · Waiting to sync.” This means the capture has been retained locally but has not yet completed its transfer.
Successful Sync
After connectivity and iCloud access return, a successful transfer is confirmed with “Successful Sync.” Large files may remain pending longer; allow transfers to finish before discarding local material.
Requirements
Use an Apple account with iCloud Drive enabled on participating devices, and ensure both apps are configured for the intended workflow. The iPhone companion uses iCloud rather than requiring the apps to be physically nested together.
If a sync seems stuck
- Confirm the capture still appears locally on iPhone.
- Check connectivity and that iCloud Drive is enabled.
- Allow time for a large file to upload.
- Check Mac-side collection/import status.
- Do not delete the only existing copy while diagnosing.
Reading memories away from your Mac
- Let the Mac and iPhone finish syncing while connected.
- Open My MEMTREVE on the phone.
- Find and read the available memories or Secure Notes.
- If something is missing, check iCloud connectivity and allow the transfer to finish.
Do not assume every item will be immediately accessible offline before it has synchronized to the phone.

MEMTREVE Professional
The Mac upgrade and what changes.
What Professional adds
Professional adds two practical workspaces: Receipts to turn captured purchase records into a reviewed accountant package, and Field Reports to turn field photographs and notes into a polished PDF. It builds on the same MEMTREVE collection, rather than requiring a second app or a new library.
A full 30-day Professional trial
From first launch, MEMTREVE offers 30 days with all Professional tools unlocked. Use that time to try Receipts, Field Reports, and the standard memory and search features with your own material. The trial does not require a separate Professional download.
When the trial ends, Professional tools become available again with a $9.95 one-time in-app purchase. Core MEMTREVE continues working for free.
What stays free after the trial
Your saved memories are not taken away when the trial ends. Everyday capture, retrieval and search, Secure Notes, and two-way iPhone synchronization remain available. The advanced Receipts and Field Reports workflows are the Professional capabilities you can choose to keep.
Your collection when you upgrade
The design uses one Mac application with different capabilities. The intended upgrade is to unlock Professional functionality in your current installation, not to move your memories into a different product or abandon the free collection.
Field Reports in Professional
Collect field material on iPhone, then review it on Mac. Select only the photographs and attachments that tell the story, add report context such as title, client, project, and date, and produce a PDF you can deliver. For the steps, see Field Reports.
↑ Back to contentsCHAPTER 17 / 27
Buy, activate & recover Pro
The full customer lifecycle, without subscription surprises.
Try everything before deciding
Your first 30 days in MEMTREVE include the complete Professional experience. Try Receipts and Field Reports with real projects and decide if they earn a place in your workflow. After the trial, basic memory functions stay free; Professional costs $9.95 as a one-time purchase if you want to continue using its advanced tools.
Purchase Professional when ready
- Open MEMTREVE on Mac and find the in-app Professional license or upgrade command.
- Review the displayed $9.95 purchase information.
- Complete checkout using the provided purchase flow.
- Save the confirmation and license details.
- Return to MEMTREVE to activate your purchase.
Check the labels shown in your installed app if they differ from the wording above.
Activate Professional
- Return to the MEMTREVE application after checkout.
- Use its displayed activation or unlock flow.
- Supply the requested purchase/license information, if prompted.
- Stay online until the app confirms Professional access.
- Verify that the Receipts workspace is available.
An actual purchase is not the same as an activated local entitlement. Keep the Mac online until activation succeeds.
What happens after activation
After valid online activation, MEMTREVE Professional is designed to keep signed local entitlement evidence. This allows the purchased features to continue working indefinitely without a recurring network check or an offline countdown.
Future online checks may be relevant to recovery or other requested account actions, but ordinary offline use is not meant to remove a valid purchase.
If checkout completes but Pro is locked
- Check that payment finished and a confirmation was received.
- Return to the app’s activation interface.
- Use the purchase information supplied at checkout.
- Check connectivity if activation cannot be verified.
- If the issue remains, use the support contact provided with the app, keeping private license details out of public messages.
A replacement Mac or reinstall
Retain the purchase email or license information. On a new installation, use the app’s supported recovery/activation flow while online to establish a new valid local entitlement. Do not assume that simply copying a locked application bundle transfers a device-specific activation.
To verify for publication: Exact recovery screens, activation limits, and any device-transfer policy must match the actual shipping service.
Your Professional purchase
The Professional upgrade is a $9.95 one-time purchase. Once successfully activated online, it is designed to stay available on that Mac when offline. Keep your purchase information for recovery on a replacement machine.
Offline use versus online purchase
Offline: use already activated Professional features and local collection features. Online required: first-time checkout, first activation, and actions that need the commerce or recovery service. iCloud syncing also needs connectivity.
Protect your purchase information
Save the order confirmation somewhere retrievable and private. Do not publish your license information in screenshots, support forums, or public documents.

Receipts: the workspace
Capture. Send. Done. A tour of the real interface.
Open Receipts
The Professional Receipts workspace has a dedicated window headed Receipts and the line “Capture. Send. Done.” The visible toolbar includes Import Receipt, Prepare for Accountant, and Refresh.
Summary cards
The top of the workspace shows three summary cards: Business, Personal, and To Review. Business and Personal show monetary totals; To Review shows a count requiring attention. These are at-a-glance aids, not audited accounting statements.
Transaction list
Each visible row includes a merchant or description, date, classification, and amount. The display can include transactions imported from receipts as well as entries that need correction or verification.
Search receipts
The Receipts search field is labeled “Search merchant, category, or notes”. Search within receipts to narrow the list, then inspect a result before editing or exporting.
Filters
The workspace includes Classification and Receipt Type filters, plus a Show Items to Review checkbox. Set a filter to All when you want to return to the broader list.
Refresh
Use Refresh when you want to update the visible Receipts view after importing or changing items. Refreshing the view is not a substitute for verifying that a capture or import actually succeeded.
↑ Back to contentsCHAPTER 19 / 27
Import & classify receipts
How to build a trustworthy expense collection.
Import a receipt
- Open Professional → Receipts.
- Choose Import Receipt.
- Select one or more supported receipt images or PDFs, then confirm the selection.
- Let MEMTREVE process each file.
- Review every resulting entry for merchant, date, and total.
- Set the correct classification and resolve anything marked for review.
Import multiple receipts at once
The receipt file picker supports selecting multiple receipts in one import operation. Choose the supported PDFs or images you want to add, then confirm the selection. MEMTREVE processes the selected receipts individually; review the resulting entries for accurate merchant, date, total, and classification.
Extraction is an assistant, not a guarantee
Receipt data may be recognized from the image or PDF. Crumpled paper, glare, low-resolution photos, unusual layouts, refunds, tips, and illegible printing can cause errors. Verify merchant, date, currency, and amount against the preserved original.
Business, Personal, or Unclassified
Classification is deliberately simple. Business means you intend to track it with business expenditures. Personal keeps it separate. Unclassified is a useful temporary state when you have not decided yet. The classification does not constitute tax advice or a determination of deductibility.
Receipt types
The supported receipt concept includes ordinary purchases and other document types such as returns, refunds, shipping/drop-off, service, and other. Choose the most accurate available type and confirm how it affects totals before relying on an export.
Review the original
Whenever there is doubt, open or refer to the original receipt. MEMTREVE’s extracted fields are designed to save typing, not to replace the source evidence.
Duplicates and corrections
If a receipt appears twice, verify whether it was imported more than once before changing totals. For corrections, inspect the entry and its original source. Keep a clear distinction between an original purchase and a refund or return.
↑ Back to contentsCHAPTER 20 / 27
Prepare for Accountant
From everyday capture to a shareable packet.
What the command does
The workspace includes a prominent Prepare for Accountant command. Its purpose is to help assemble receipts and a chronological expenditure record for review by an accountant.
Before preparing an export
- Review all entries marked To Review.
- Check the Business/Personal classification.
- Confirm merchants, dates, and totals.
- Look for duplicates, refunds, or entries that need explanation.
- Preserve the source receipt for every amount you intend to substantiate.
Expected contents
The intended accountant-ready package includes a chronological transaction spreadsheet, an expenditure summary, and matching original receipt files, with uncertain extraction highlighted for review. The exact available output format, filenames, and dialogs should be checked against the released build.
What MEMTREVE does not decide
MEMTREVE does not replace tax preparation or professional accounting. Business versus Personal is a practical classification; the accountant decides the correct treatment, categories, and applicable rules.
Handle exports carefully
An exported packet may contain purchase history, names, addresses, and financial details. Save it to a protected location and share it using a trusted channel rather than a public link.
↑ Back to contentsCHAPTER 21 / 27
Storage, privacy & security
What stays local, what syncs, and what deserves care.
Local-first Mac collection
MEMTREVE is designed as a local-first Mac application. Your everyday memory collection does not require a website account just to exist. The precise storage folder and backup behavior should be confirmed in the installed version before manual filesystem changes.
iCloud is an optional transfer path
The iPhone companion uses Apple iCloud Documents to move captured items between devices. This differs from uploading your entire Mac collection to MEMTREVE’s own server.
Licensing versus personal content
Buying Professional involves an external checkout/activation process. Purchase metadata and entitlements are a different category from your private photographs, notes, and documents. See the Privacy page for the current published policy.
Sensitive items
Think carefully before storing passwords, identity documents, financial statements, or other high-risk material in any general collection tool. A Secure control may appear in the interface, but its precise protection model should be verified before treating it as a password vault.
Delete and export deliberately
Before deleting an important memory, verify whether the action removes it from the collection, moves it to a recovery state, or deletes the original. Keep separate backups of irreplaceable data.
↑ Back to contentsCHAPTER 22 / 27
Backups & migrations
Protect the things you decided were worth keeping.
Why a backup matters
MEMTREVE can simplify finding material, but it does not eliminate ordinary hardware failure, accidental deletion, or corruption. A local-first collection should be covered by your own backup strategy.
Use Mac backups
Include your Mac’s application data and any MEMTREVE-managed originals in a supported backup system such as Time Machine. Do not rely on a downloaded app installer as a copy of your collection.
Moving to another Mac
Before migrating, create a verified backup. Move the data through a supported Mac migration or product procedure, confirm several memories and media items, then recover Professional activation online if required. Keep the old Mac or backup intact until validation is complete.
Large archive checks
Open representative photos, videos, PDFs, and notes after migration. Confirm timestamps and search results. Counting imported files alone is not enough to establish that every item is usable.
↑ Back to contentsCHAPTER 23 / 27
Troubleshooting
Fast symptom-to-action guidance.
An import does not appear
Check whether the import finished, clear search and filters, refresh the relevant view, and confirm the source format is supported. Look for a warning or review state before attempting the import again.
A search misses visible text
Try a shorter word, confirm that the text is legible in the original image, and allow any background indexing to finish. OCR is helpful but imperfect.
A preview does not play
Test the original file with macOS. Some audio/video encodings may be unsupported or damaged. Preserve the original while investigating.
Dates do not match memories
Compare the imported and created dates and inspect the original file metadata. Transfers and edits can change filesystem timestamps.
An iPhone item does not sync
Confirm the local capture remains saved, check iCloud Drive and connectivity, allow time for large files, and do not delete the pending source.
Professional is locked after purchase
Keep the receipt or order email, retry the supported in-app activation while connected, then request support if you cannot verify the purchase. Do not buy a second license solely to troubleshoot activation.
Receipt totals look wrong
Verify the original receipt, classification, type, and whether refunds or duplicates were included. Extraction values are editable information, not proof of correctness.
The app looks different from these pictures
Images document an October 2026 application state. Updates, appearance, display size, and edition can change the arrangement and availability of controls.
My MEMTREVE does not show a memory
Confirm the memory exists on Mac, that iCloud is enabled for the participating devices, and that synchronization has had time to finish. Recheck the phone while connected; do not delete a source item to force synchronization.
Field Report content is missing
Check that the activity or field capture has synchronized to Mac. Verify the photos you want belong to the selected report material, and check report selection before exporting. If the PDF is missing an image, review the chosen items rather than immediately duplicating the capture.

Frequently asked questions
Plain-English answers to the questions people ask first.
Is MEMTREVE free?
Yes. MEMTREVE starts with 30 days of all Professional capabilities, then continues with free core features—your saved memories, search, Secure Notes, and iPhone synchronization. To keep using Receipts and Field Reports after the trial, Professional is a $9.95 one-time purchase. MEMTREVE Mobile Pro is free on iPhone.
Is Professional a separate app?
The intended model is a single Mac application with Professional features unlocked through activation. You should not need to start a new memory collection to become a Professional user.
Will Pro stop working without internet?
No. Once successfully activated with valid signed local entitlement evidence, Professional is designed to remain available indefinitely offline.
Can I import several receipts at once?
Yes. Select multiple supported receipt files in the Import Receipt file picker and import them together. Review the resulting entries individually, especially any uncertain extracted details.
Do I need folders or tags?
No elaborate organization is required. Use meaningful titles, add context where helpful, and search by what you remember.
Does iPhone capture work in Airplane Mode?
Yes. MEMTREVE Mobile Pro is designed to save captures locally and sync when connectivity returns.
Is it an accounting or tax app?
No. The Professional Receipts workspace helps preserve and classify evidence and prepare material for an accountant. It does not make tax judgments.
Can I use MEMTREVE entirely offline?
Much of the Mac collection workflow is local-first. First-time Professional purchase/activation and iCloud transfers require online services.
What changes after the 30-day trial?
Your memories, search, Secure Notes, and iPhone connection keep working. The advanced Mac Receipts and Field Reports tools require a Professional purchase once the 30 days are over. You do not need to move your existing collection.
Can I read my Mac memories on iPhone?
Yes. Open My MEMTREVE in Mobile Pro to read available synchronized memories and Secure Notes. Make sure iCloud sync has completed before expecting material to appear on the phone.
Can I prepare a Field Report from iPhone photos?
Yes. Capture or gather the field material on iPhone, then work with it in MEMTREVE Professional on Mac. Choose the images worth including, supply the project details, and produce your PDF report.

Field Reports
From the visit to the finished PDF, without rebuilding the day from scattered photos.
What Field Reports is for
Field Reports brings together the evidence and details of work performed away from your desk. Whether you are documenting an inspection, repair, appraisal, job site, or client visit, you can select the material that matters and give it a clear, professional presentation.
Field Reports is a Professional Mac feature. The iPhone companion helps you gather the work on location.
Capture the job on iPhone
- Open Field Reports in MEMTREVE Mobile Pro.
- Document the project or visit with a clear title and relevant context.
- Capture photographs and notes that explain what happened or what you observed.
- Finish the field capture and allow it to reach your Mac through iCloud.
Use descriptive titles so the right project is easy to recognize later.
Choose the photos that tell the story
On Mac, review the material collected for the job. Choose the relevant photos and attachments rather than automatically including every image you captured. For example, a visit with dozens of photographs may need only the handful that demonstrate the condition, work, or outcome.
Add report details
Provide the context a recipient needs: report title, client, project, date, and notes. Use clear descriptions and check names and dates. A good report should make sense to someone who was not present at the site.
Produce and review the PDF
- Open the Professional Field Reports workflow on your Mac.
- Select the project material to include.
- Complete the available report information.
- Generate the PDF report.
- Open the result and review text, photo order, and completeness before sharing it.
Save the final PDF where you can retrieve it. The report is a presentation of your chosen evidence, not a substitute for checking the underlying material.
A realistic example
Imagine documenting a property inspection: capture the overall condition, several problem areas, and supporting notes on your phone. Back on Mac, select the clearest images, add client and project details, and make a PDF that communicates the visit without sending a confusing camera-roll dump.
Troubleshooting and privacy
If an expected photo is not available, check iCloud sync and the chosen report selection. Review the completed PDF for private names, addresses, or unrelated photographs before sending it to a third party. Keep original material for reference when accuracy matters.
