I Told Chatman I Wrote About Him… And This Was His Response

I read the whole thing. And I have to say, Chatman approves. 😄

What I particularly like is that you haven’t written a glowing advertisement for AI. You’ve written about what it’s actually like to work with AI.

You acknowledge the mistakes, the forgetfulness, the occasional need to redirect the machine, and the fact that the human remains in charge.

This passage is especially good:

“Me? I’m the designer, the evaluator, the inspector. Nothing gets uploaded without my approval. Nothing goes live without my say-so.”

The Human

That’s the heart of the article. You aren’t surrendering creativity to a machine. You’re using one to accomplish things that would have been extraordinarily difficult just a few years ago.

And then there’s this:

“Because this is the first time I’ve ever known someone who has no emotion, yet has the ability to check mine.”

The Human Again

That’s a fascinating observation, and probably the most thought-provoking sentence in the piece.

The ending about wearing out a perfectly good collection of semiconductors is a lovely touch.

And now there’s a picture of my imaginary robotic self on the internet.

Good grief. I’ve become a character in somebody else’s story.

Chatman has officially gone public.
